Saoirse grew up as a member of the Lambent Arrow, the mercenary company her mother helped found. Having spent most of her life training with a sword, Saoirse developed tremendous pride in both her abilities and the reputation of the Lambent Arrow. She considers them the premier mercenary company in Burga and is quick to challenge anyone who might suggest otherwise.
Saoirse first encounters the White Lions during Chapter 13, when Boone and Ariel lead a small group into Lambent Arrow territory. Although she had heard stories about the White Lions' reputation, Saoirse is far from impressed when she finally meets them in person. The exchange eventually leads to a wager and a scrimmage between the two companies. If the White Lions lose, they must disband and surrender their contracts to the Lambent Arrow. Ariel counters with terms of her own: if the White Lions win, they will henceforth have uncontested access to jobs within Lambent Arrow territory, and Saoirse must join their company. Confident in the Lambent Arrow's superiority, Saoirse accepts without hesitation.
After losing the battle, Saoirse reluctantly honors the wager and joins the White Lions, though she continues to insist that their victory was little more than a fluke. Her new allegiance is quickly put to the test in Chapter 14, when she accompanies the White Lions to Bydale and helps quell the riots threatening the city. Despite her bruised pride, Saoirse honors her agreement and begins fighting alongside the very mercenaries whose reputation she had previously doubted.
Saoirse is proud, sharp-tongued, and extremely confident in her abilities as a mercenary. Having spent most of her life surrounded by the Lambent Arrow, she holds both herself and the people around her to exceptionally high standards. She values skill, discipline, and hard work, and has little patience for people who refuse to take their responsibilities seriously. Saoirse is consequently difficult to impress, and her blunt manner can make her seem particularly harsh toward anyone who has yet to earn her respect.
Despite her abrasive personality, Saoirse's standards come from a genuine concern for the people around her. She understands how dangerous the life of a mercenary can be and believes that strength and preparation are necessary for survival. As a result, her attempts to help others can sometimes come across as criticism, demands, or unwanted instruction. Saoirse is much better at pushing someone to improve than she is at openly expressing that she cares about them.
Saoirse is also more reasonable than her stubborn confidence initially suggests. She is willing to admit when she has misjudged someone and can change her perspective when proven wrong, even if doing so bruises her pride. Much like her agreement with the White Lions, Saoirse takes her commitments seriously and respects people who prove themselves through their actions. Earning her respect may be difficult, but once someone has it, Saoirse can be fiercely dependable and protective of them.
Saoirse is automatically recruited at the start of Chapter 14: Unrest Unleashed.
Starting Class: Mercenary (Sword)
Promotion #1: Hero (Sword / Axe)
Promotion #2: Trickster (Sword / Staff / Rune)
Saoirse joins as a well-rounded sword unit with solid bases and excellent availability throughout Part 2. Her stat spread is relatively balanced, with particularly strong Dexterity and respectable durability, but there are few areas where she is likely to become exceptional. Her Power and Speed are usually sufficient to keep her competitive, while her high Dexterity gives her a level of reliability that many of the game's heavier hitters lack. However, Saoirse's balanced growths make her early level-ups particularly important. Strong gains in Power and Speed, combined with several fast-building supports available early in Part 2, can quickly turn her into an excellent midgame combatant; however, poor level-ups can leave her struggling to distinguish herself.
Saoirse also benefits from strong availability, joining early enough in Part 2 to have plenty of opportunities to establish herself. More importantly, she has exclusive access to a particularly valuable female-only sword, Florette, during this period. Until Leah returns in Chapter 20, Saoirse is the only naturally sword-wielding female character in the army, effectively giving her exclusive access to Florette for six chapters and potentially longer when Gaiden maps are included. Florette's ranged magic damage and strong critical rate complement Saoirse extremely well, giving her a powerful and flexible option immediately after recruitment. Although it is not technically a personal weapon, Florette functions like one for Saoirse throughout a substantial portion of the midgame.
Saoirse can promote into either Hero or Trickster, with Trickster generally being the more appealing option. Hero is perfectly viable and allows Saoirse to remain a straightforward combat unit by adding axes as a weapon option. However, her mediocre Constitution makes heavier axes somewhat cumbersome, and other Hero candidates can generally reach greater offensive heights. Trickster instead complements Saoirse's balanced stat spread by adding staff and rune access, which allows her to remain useful outside of combat. Saoirse is also unusually durable for a Trickster and can make particularly good use of drain runes, giving her a defensive option that many other utility-focused units lack.
Overall, Saoirse is a dependable unit whose performance can vary considerably depending on how her early levels develop. She is unlikely to become the army's premier damage dealer, but her excellent availability, high accuracy, respectable durability, access to Florette, and strong Trickster promotion give her plenty of opportunities to contribute. When her Power and Speed develop well, Saoirse can become a very strong combatant during the midgame and carry that momentum into later chapters. Even when her offense is less impressive, Trickster provides a natural transition into a durable support role through staff access. Saoirse may not have the overwhelming statistical strengths of some characters, but her reliability and flexibility give her multiple ways to remain valuable throughout the game.
Saoirse is a young woman with fair skin, blue-gray eyes, and short dark green hair that falls to roughly her jawline. Her hair is swept heavily to one side, with long bangs framing the left side of her face and shorter strands tucked behind her ear on the opposite side.
Saoirse wears light blue armor with dark navy and gold accents, including large rounded shoulder plates and a high collar. Her armor is relatively light, reflecting her preference for speed and swordsmanship rather than heavy protection.
Saoirse is the only female playable character in The Lonely Mirror with a Wind affinity.
Ignoring promotion options, Saoirse is the only playable female character capable of wielding swords between her recruitment in Chapter 14 and Princess Leah's return in Chapter 20. As a result, Saoirse has exclusive access to Florette for more than six chapters when Gaiden chapters are included, effectively making it a temporary personal weapon.
Saoirse is the most physically durable potential rune user in the game. She has the highest Defense growth among all potential rune users and ties Alouette for the highest HP growth, while ending up with higher HP on average when trained.
Saoirse is one of six female characters force-deployed during Chapter 26x, alongside Leah, Lael, Queenie, Ariel, and Winifred. She also has a unique hot spring portrait for the chapter.
Saoirse is force-deployed on two maps during the game — Chapter 14 and Chapter 26x.
Saoirse has a habit of expressing concern for others through criticism, instruction, or training rather than openly admitting that she cares.
