Ariel is the daughter of Lionel, the legendary commander of the White Lions, and serves as the group's chief healer. During Prelude I, she accompanies her father to Castle Celyste after Prince Caden requests Lionel's aid in helping the ailing King Neilson. Hoping Ariel's talents as a healer may be able to improve the king's condition, Lionel brings her along to the castle. Unbeknownst to the White Lions, the summons gives Devante the opportunity to redirect their attention while advancing his own plans behind the scenes. During the ensuing chaos, Ariel is taken captive as potential leverage, while Lionel is taken by Devante to further test the power of Vetti's Harp.
After Boone rescues Ariel at the end of Chapter 10, she returns to the White Lions and welcomes Myles into the organization. During the five-year timeskip, she and Boone share leadership of the White Lions, with Boone directing the group in the field while Ariel oversees its organization, supplies, and day-to-day operations. As the company takes on mercenary work to help support a struggling Celyste, Ariel never loses sight of her ultimate goal: finding her father and uncovering the fate of the Proclaimers.
Throughout the journey, Ariel serves as the moral and organizational backbone of the White Lions. She takes immense pride in the company Lionel built and works tirelessly to uphold its reputation, whether by keeping its headquarters in order, managing its limited resources, or expecting her comrades to conduct themselves with professionalism. Although her high standards occasionally lead to friction with more carefree personalities, Ariel never wavers in her belief that the White Lions should represent hope and integrity wherever they go.
As the White Lions pursue the Proclaimers across Aurumasse, Ariel grows from a devoted healer into one of the group's defining leaders. While her search for Lionel continues to guide many of her decisions, the choices made during the final chapters ultimately determine whether she is able to reunite with her father and how her story concludes.
Ariel is disciplined, dependable, and exceptionally organized, often serving as the logistical backbone of the White Lions. She approaches problems with a calm, practical mindset and has a habit of keeping both the battlefield and those around her in order. Although she can come across as strict—particularly regarding cleanliness, supplies, and discipline—her actions are driven by genuine concern for others rather than perfectionism.
As both a healer and co-commander, Ariel naturally places the needs of others before her own. She is patient with those who struggle, quick to offer guidance, and believes people deserve the opportunity to grow from their mistakes. Beneath her composed exterior lies a dry sense of humor and a warm personality that emerges most around those she trusts, particularly Boone and the White Lions. While she often worries about living up to her father's legacy, Ariel gradually realizes that her greatest strength lies not in imitating her father, but in leading alongside others.
Starting Class: Troubadour (Staff)
Promotion #1: Valkyrie (Light / Staff)
Promotion #2: Templar (Lance/ Staff)
Ariel is the queen of the midgame. Joining at the beginning of Chapter 11, she immediately establishes herself as the party’s primary source of mobile healing. Although her initial stats may appear underwhelming compared with Kathryn’s, Ariel’s mount gives her a major practical advantage. She can reach injured allies quickly, reposition units through Rescue utility, and contribute almost every turn without needing to place herself near the front lines.
Ariel also benefits from excellent availability during the early portion of Part 2. She does not compete for deployment in Chapters 11, 12, 12x, or 13, and she is effectively guaranteed a role in Chapter 14 as either a starting unit or reinforcement. Chapters 15 and 16 are similarly generous with deployment slots, giving her several maps to gain staff experience, build supports, and prepare for promotion. Because healing provides consistent experience, Ariel will often be among the party’s earliest promotion candidates.
While healing remains her primary role, Ariel can become a surprisingly effective combat unit after promotion. Her high Speed allows her to double many enemies, and several accessible supports can improve her otherwise middling offensive stats. Valkyrie is generally her stronger promotion option, because it grants a reliable 1-2 range attack in Light magic. Templar might be considered for the promotional gains to patch her weaker stats. During the Burga arc, a trained Ariel can become one of the party’s most dependable units and may temporarily function as a genuine carry.
Her greatest weakness is how poorly that combat performance scales into the endgame. Aside from Speed, Ariel’s growths are broadly average, and she still carries low defensive durability that is common to most magic units. Ariel also does not gain access to Seraphim like Kathryn or Shiloh, and may struggle to reach an S rank in either Light magic or Lances. As stronger weapons, longer-range healing, and additional staff users become available, her mobility becomes less exceptional and her offensive ceiling becomes increasingly apparent.
Overall, Ariel remains useful through the end of the game. As a natural healer, she is likely to possess a stronger staff rank than units who only gain staves upon promotion, allowing her to provide reliable healing, Restore support, and other important utility during the berserk-status-heavy final chapters. Her strong support pool can also help her remain relevant even after her combat begins to taper off. Ariel may not dominate the endgame as she does the midgame, but her contribution during one of the game’s longest and most demanding stretches is enough to make her one of the strongest units in The Lonely Mirror.
Ariel is a graceful young woman with fair skin, teal-blue eyes, and vibrant violet hair. During Part 1, she wears her long hair loose, with side-swept bangs framing one side of her face. Following the five-year timeskip, she adopts a neat chin-length bob, giving her a more mature and practical appearance.
She is typically dressed in elegant blue, green, and white robes befitting her role as the White Lions' chief healer and co-commander. Her calm expression, immaculate appearance, and poised demeanor reflect the disciplined, organized leader she has become.
Ariel is the only playable Troubadour and the only naturally mounted healer for the majority of the game.
Ariel serves as both the White Lions' chief healer and co-commander alongside Boone following the events of Part 1.
Ariel's appearance changes dramatically after the five-year timeskip, exchanging her long hair for a short bob haircut.
Ariel is often viewed as the "older sister" of the White Lions, keeping the company organized while Boone leads them in battle.
Ariel is intentionally designed to break Fire Emblem conventions. Despite joining as an unpromoted Troubadour, she reaches her combat peak during the midgame before transitioning into a dedicated support role for the remainder of the game.
