Nature Mapping Walk
Our Space for Nature group has organised a nature walk around the village on Sunday 19 May, starting at 10.30am from outside the Harvest Home pub on Southwick Road.
The walk will be led by Katy Froud, Wilder Neighbourhoods Officer from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. We’d love you to join us, and to hear your ideas on how we can make Denmead more wildlife-friendly.
On the walk we will:
Identify existing wildlife habitats and species
Locate areas for improvement and habitat creation
Create a community action plan to make space for nature in Denmead
We plan to create a map showing the habitats across the village, and look at how we can connect these areas to better support wildlife.
The image below indicates the route we plan to take around the village. We anticipate it will take no more than 1.5 hours to complete.
Please wear stout footwear and we recommend trousers as one of the paths is fairly narrow with stinging nettles growing nearby.
