31629 near Cirencester. This superb picture by Gerald Robinson was taken on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning, 25 March 1961.

The rural nature of the MSWJ is emphasised here as U 31629 curves round and heads towards Cheltenham with the 7.50am ex Andover.

Note the pristine condition of the track on what is just a branch line. Less than six months later, the passenger service was no more.
