No. 5: Yrjö Bylund

No. 5 of the council

Representing the color green, Yrjö Bylund is very down to earth and a very reliable member of the Council. He has been on the Council for 18 years and his main jobs are:

Assisting with Council specific conflicts. If two members are in a disagreement, then he is the one who is asked to mediate the situation.
Medic: Yrjö is knowledgable about most things when it comes to ghost medicine. He also has almost all the supplies for healing ghosts. It is very hard to injure a ghost, but it happens to Council members the most since they are targeted for their power. Even then, it rarely happens. Ghosts can also only be injured by weapons laced with a specific toxin (which only No. 3 and No. 8 have main possession of). There are some medicines that Yrjö does not have but they're only for extreme practices that are considered "dangerous." He does know someone who can go through with these procedures if need be.
Not a job specific to this position, but he does tend to be Hibiki's assistant of sorts since they get along so well.

Personality

Yrjö is considered very down to earth by the Council. He's very good at problem solving and can see many sides of a situation. He also extends much kindness to those around him, even when he disagrees with others. This easily cements him amongst the Council as trustworthy and reliable. Right? One would think. But Yrjö is also known to be a bit more ominous deep down than he seems. This mostly is due to how he lived his life. He struggled a lot with negativity and a feeling of uselessness while he was alive, though any interaction with him would indicate the opposite. Always reassuring people he was okay, that everything was fine, but this is how he coped with knowing he was destined to die. This causes him to view most things as temporary, or sometimes inevitable. He tries to hide his negative feelings or destructive thoughts, but sometimes through his calm demeanor you can see his shattered perception of reality.

Yrjö treats all Council members with respect, even the ones he isn't fond of. Most of them reciprocate these feelings, or even go out of their way to spend time with him. Although he spends time with the others, it is mostly performative. He can't help but feel that the relationships he has with the Council members are fake or will just eventually be used to take advantage of him. He doesn't believe that any of them care for him outside of being a resource. This is because while alive, he was unwanted by most, only having one good friend. Even she grew distant over time, but he didn't really care because he knew she had a life to live. For this reason he limits the energy he gives to other members with one exception. Hibiki Ishii, the most hated member for the past 122 years, has a a very key thing in common with Yrjö. He is alone. Yrjö found comfort in this—knowing that he knew how he felt made their bond special. As time went on, they got closer; the Council really couldn't believe it, since they seemed so different. Hibiki, a rude power-hungry menace, being friends with Yrjö, a calm and respectful soul? It made no sense. This largely damaged Yrjö's credibility, but he feels happier knowing Hibiki is at his side, so he doesn't really care.
