Kitchen cabinet modifications.

The kitchen cabinets that came with the house did not fit our storage needs. We had too much stuff, and the shelves did not allow easy access to stored items. The cabinet above the stove area (top two pictures) was too tall, narrow, and deep to be of much use for spices, or anything else. I designed an octagonal, four level rotating spice rack that has a full extension slide system. The new shelf allows me to rotate the entire shelf system while fully extended for easy access. The shelf system also rotates while it is inside the cabinet. Each shelf has a lip to prevent things from falling off when the system rotates.

The second cabinet modification was to create two slide out storage cabinets to the left of the refrigerator. The original cabinets are floor to ceiling in height, and about 20 inches deep. Anything in the back of either cabinet was lost and not easy to access. I removed the original doors and made storage boxes that are mounted on full extension slides at the base of each cabinet (upper and lower). When the boxes were installed and working properly, I reattached the original doors after removing the hinges. The full extension slides are rated to 100 plus pounds in order to hold lots of cans. Each box has three shelves that are reinforced to accommodate the weight of the cans.
