Georgia Yankee Workshop: Projects by Alton Bell

This site was created to display some of my woodworking projects I have worked on over the past few years. I also hope that it will inspire the creativity of other woodworkers.

Some projects are modifications to my kitchen, while others are things I have wanted or needed. Or, things my wife has "suggested" I make. Happy wife, happy life!

To view the projects I have worked on, click the underlined text to navigate to the Projects page.

Background

I graduated from The University of Maine with a BS in Industrial Arts Education in 1978. My formal training included wood working, metal working, manufacturing & construction, graphic arts, and transportation systems. Yes, I was a shop teacher.

Over the past few years I have earned a Master of Education in Technology, a Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction, and a Doctorate degree in Instructional Leadership. My education and 40 years of teaching have served me well for designing projects, problem solving, and being creative.

Not only do I work on my own projects, I also teach woodworking skills to adults (and others) that may have missed an opportunity to to take woodworking (shop) in high school or middle school.

I can teach you basic woodworking skills for using the table saw, band saw, wood lathe, and other stationary power tools. I can also instruct you in the use of basic power hand tools.

If you have a small project you want to make or design, I can assist you with it. I have a workshop at my home, or I can assist/consult with you at your own home workshop.
