Solution
This puzzle has been around for many years. Very easy to solve with basic mathematics.
You also need to pay attention to detail.
Note last line has 1 spanner, 1 man holding 2 spanners and wearing 1 hat and holding 1 hat, and 1 hat
We need to obey Maths rules when performing multiple operations of addition, subtraction, division and multiplication (BODMAS)
1st Line
(5 x 2) + (5 x 2) + (5 x 2) = 30 6 spanners = 30 so 1 Spanner = 5
2nd Line
Man + Man + 2 Spanners = 20
Man + Man + 10 = 20 so 2 men = 10
5 + 5 + (5 x 2) = 20 Man = 5
3rd line
2 Hats + 2Hats +Man= 13
as 1 man =5 then 4 hats =8, so 1 hat =2
(2 x 2) + (2 x 2) + 5 = 13 Hat = 2
4th line
Spanner + (Man+Hat+Hat+2 spanners) x Hat = ?
5 + (5+2+2+5+5) X 2
5 + 19 x 2
USE BODMAS so multiply first 19 X 2 = 38
5+38=43
Answer = 43
