The SUREFEED Microchip Cat & Small Dog Feeder is a great gadget but you have to keep buying batteries. If you can use a solder iron you can wire this gadget to a 6V rechargeable battery. If you have 2 or more feeders they all can be connected to the rechargeable battery but I would suggest a higher rated Ah battery. You will need to a multimeter to verify circuit. This process can be applied to many items that eat up batteries.
Electronic Cat Flaps is another example. Always check the voltage for the gadget, you can easily do this by looking at the voltage and amount of batteries...eg 4 X 1.5(C) or (AA) or (AAA) batteries = 6V
This would be a good DIY project for families with more than 1 cat or dog feeder.
According to SureFeed webside, they discourage use of recharable batteries, that is because rechargeable batteries are usually 1.2V...in this DIY project we are using a 6V battery so not a problem.
