High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)

An HDMI connector supports an all-digital link between an HD cable set-top or satellite receiver that combines digital video and digital audio on one connection rather than using separate connectors for each function. This delivers extremely high-quality digital video and audio. HDMI is fully backwards compatible with DVI.


HDMI 2.0, which is backwards compatible with earlier versions of the HDMI specifications. Bandwidth up to 18Gbps.New functionality includes:

HDMI 2.1: When will it be available ?

A new version of HDMI is nearly with us (officially specced in Nov 2017)....can support resolutions up to 10K. The new HDMI 2.1 cables will allow faster refresh rates, including 8K resolution video at 60 frames/second and 4K at 120 frames/second.
