This was a shocker. In a complete about face to how the Mint had run the People's Princess collection, for the second time, an outfit from a Limited Edition doll was sold in the familiar navy ensemble box. This time it was the oyster white duchesse satin gown that was accounted to be Diana's favourite in the Christie's auction in 1997.

It took months to discover this, and the first indications were spotting auctions on eBay, then seeing this and the red lamé gown on the FM website. The first thought was that an enterprising seller had stripped a dressed doll and repacked her, hoping to gull new collectors. Nope, not the case. (For once!)
This created a mini-glut on the market for these white gowns, which was met by collectors using them to commission the jacket from sites like Doll Fashions by Alana.
