What can I say? This is the Versace gown Diana wore on her last visit to Chicago in 1996, and in which she danced with Phil Donahue. (The question that doesn't beg to be asked is, "Why didn't this become the Donuhue Gown?")
The five item outfit comes with the gown, shoes, choker, earrings, and clutch purse. The gown is notched at the neckline and falls straight to the floor. The jewelry suite includes gorgeous amethyst drop earrings, a "ruby and diamond" trimmed multi-strand "pearl" choker, a fancy satin evening bag and purple vinyl shoes. The doll looks fabulous in the outfit, and is everything one should expect in a miniature replica.
The purse is spectacular and nearly as nifty as the splendid taupe purse that came with the light blue suit. It is embellished with a half pearl clasp and opens. Even though there are only 5 pieces to this, it's a great outfit and definitely worth the price. (BTW, if you ever have the opportunity to see Diana's gown in person, you will likely be astonished by how slender this column gown is in person. Now that the Diana - A Celebration exhibit has been closed and this and all the other outfits have been returned to Diana's sons, there is no word on when the gown might again be on public display.
In about 2007, a dressed doll was sold in this gown. Since nothing new was added, following the practice I've employed with the other subscription outfits sold on dressed dolls, I have not given it a separate doll page.
