FIU Coronavirus Advisory – Visit our Panthers Protecting Panthers website for updates
ALL students are required to complete a safety screening questionnaire prior to coming to campus. Access and download the P3 app at go.fiu.edu/fiup3.
If you believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19, or are having symptoms, please call 305-348-8385 to schedule a telehealth visit.
While FIU does not require students nor employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine, we highly recommend it for your own benefit. Evidence shows that vaccinated individuals can still get COVID-19, but their symptoms are usually milder. If you are unvaccinated, you are assuming a significant risk to your health. We urge students and faculty to become fully vaccinated in their home country prior to departing to the U.S.
Following the guidance of Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Board of Governors, classes are back on campus with no remote option and no physical distancing in the classrooms. There are no plans to modify the operations of the university to accommodate individuals who choose not to get vaccinated.
Vaccines are free and widely available in our community and at the following locations on campus to members of the university community and qualifying family members..
MMC (Pfizer Vaccine)
Graham Center Piano Lounge
Vaccine Van outside Panther Hall from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week (Available through October 4)
BBC (Pfizer Vaccine)
Vaccine Van in Lot 1 near Student Health from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week (Available through October 4)
Register for an on campus appointment using your FIU credentials. You must bring a photo ID or birth certificate to your appointment. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Please note that the Pfizer vaccine requires a second shot three weeks after the first shot. For questions, please call 305-348-2401.
If you have received only the first dose of a two-shot vaccine in your home country, FIU may provide you with the second shot if your first dose was for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine (see above for details on where to get your second shot).
FIU is not able to provide any other manufacturers of COVID-19 vaccines and cannot offer to mix your vaccination with a different type. For example, if you received an AstraZeneca vaccine abroad, FIU will not provide a second shot from another maker. For students who received the first dose by any other maker than Pfizer or Moderna, FIU will offer a complete two-shot vaccination 6 months after the original shot was given to you in your home country.
For the protection of patients and healthcare workers, students who will be working in clinical settings with one of our many Healthcare partners will be required to be fully vaccinated per mandates issued by these facilities and must either produce a formal vaccination record or be vaccinated once in South Florida.
Due to classes moving to remote learning and in an abundance of caution, Student Health is not open for walk-ins and appointments are required. Clinic hours currently are 8:00am -5:00pm Monday -Friday.
To schedule an appointment, have your Panther ID number ready and call (305) 348-8385. Appointments are available in-person and remotely through telehealth.
Please note that telehealth appointments are only available to those currently located in Florida.
FIU has partnered with Curative to expand COVID-19 testing by opening an on-campus walk-up testing station for students, faculty and staff.
COVID-19 tests are administered at the new station at no cost to those being tested and results will be sent to patients via private portal within 24-48 hours. The testing station is located in front of Parkview Hall at MMC. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please note this testing station is a walk-up only and there is no designated parking in the vicinity.
To make an appointment at the Curative station, please visit Curative.com and search for testing centers by location using the zip code 33199. The station name is MMC-SWRC-Students.

For a complete overview of G1Y Insurance Coverage, please see www.universityhealthplans.com/FIU and select the "Benefit Information" tab to see the most up to date benefit coverage for the current academic year.
Yes! G1Y insurance covers COVID-19 testing that is considered medically necessary and ordered by a doctor. If there is a diagnosis, symptoms or exposure then testing will be covered at 100%. Most other testing in the United States for screening purposes is free of charge. G1Y insurance also waives out-of-pocket costs for all COVID-19 treatment until further notice. This includes all co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance. Similar to a preventative visit, such as your annual physical, you’ll have no out-of-pocket costs for your treatment.
To re-enroll in the G1Y insurance, you can access the form located at https://www.universityhealthplans.com/secure/enrollment-stripe.cgi?group_id=337.
Once your renew the G1Y insurance (link above), you will receive the Compliance Form to your FIU email from univhealthplans.com. Once received, send the Compliance form to insure@fiu.edu .
If there is a medical charge that you feel should be covered by insurance, your student success coach can help you to submit an insurance claim in order to request a reimbursement from the insurance company. Please contact your Student Success Coach to go through this process.
