Classroom management or meeting the needs of students can be one of the crucial parts of teaching-learning process. However, it is the key component in any educational setting. If students are safe in a learning environment, then teaching-learning process can take place. This activity focuses on creating a classroom routine that will make teachers and students more productive. As a pre-service teacher, you should be committed in making classroom a safe and challenging environment, engaging your students through the curriculum, as well as getting to know them and interacting with each other. You should develop a democratic and equitable learning environment so that students can learn effectively.
They manage to have a child-friendly classroom that makes their learners’ feel at home. They also consider the safety of the learners which leads to conducive learning classroom.
The teachers have no favoritism. They are all special and important. No discrimination. Learners should always be active and participative during discussions or other activities.
Teachers has a good relationship to the learners parents that can lead to have an open communication on their schedules and learners will be on time on class. Teachers also has an organized soft and hard copy of the lessons.
Different instructional strategies are use which depends on the lesson or activity to be done. For reading activity, Ba to Ya strategy/technique is used in Filipino. Claveria Approach/Technique is commonly implemented in English reading activity. These strategies focus on literacy.
Other Strategies implemented during discussions are learning by doing, pantomime, act that scene and others. These strategies are all under student-centered discussions.
Video lessons and power point lessons are also used. Collaborative approach is always present. All learners are given a chance to answer orally to express their ideas and to have an active discussions.
The learners are open to express their ideas on whatever language they can communicate. Two of their learners are English speaking and mostly are Tagalog/Filipino speaking. In that way, open communication is always observed. They always focus on interactive communication specially during discussion.
They also give time to ask what my learners feel in every activity they have. In that way they can improve in presenting the lesson. Break time/recess is not just a time to eat but also a time to communicate with them. They let them give advises on what to do in the lessons/activity which they find hard for them to cope up with it.
Parents and teachers has a good relationships that leads to good communication.Parents and teacher has also group chat where they can communicate on some important matters.
Yes, I am going to apply or adapt those practices because I personally observe that those practices are effective. I personally see that those practices have an impact both in learning and teaching.
Yes, during field study that we are exposed to the real or future field we were taking a well-planned classroom management can achieve a productive study. Learners will far from distractions and their curiosity in specific area that new to their eyes will lead them to questioning that gains new knowledge. A well-planned classroom management can also increase learners’ success by creating an orderly learning environment that enhances learners' academic skills and competencies, as well as their social and emotional development.
The term "learning environment" refers to the many physical settings, circumstances, and cultures in which students learn. Because children can study in a number of contexts, such as outside of school and in the outdoors, the phrase is sometimes used as a more realistic or preferable alternative to "classroom," which has more confined and traditional connotations—a room with rows of desks and a blackboard, for example. For me, the criteria and/or standards I will set to judge the quality of the classroom learning are:
Clear Rules and Expectations
Frequent and Successful Assessment
High student engagement and involvement
A variety of learning models are used
There are constant opportunities for practice
A variety of criteria are used to personalize learning
The following are the routines and procedures that we've noticed in the classroom we have Prayer, checking of attendance, lunch or recess, early work completion, group or project work, paper distribution, homework, and behavior management (warning and action). one of the most important things to do when it comes to promoting effective teaching and learning is to create a great environment for teachers and students, everyone needs to feel safe, comfortable, and confident. Everyone benefits greatly from thoughtful, time- and effort-intensive classroom management throughout the entire academic year. And every time they have a class, they had already motivational approach of their students to make them positive vibes. They gave just like a motivational quotes and bible verses at the end of her class. And in the way they teach, they not only basis themselves on books and the internet, but they also basis it on what they experience in real life so that their students can relate to the topic. That's the routine they do in their classes. As a future educator, we will use and give importance what our cooperating teacher did too because we believe it can promote essential learning and it is a huge help on my future career.
Students are inspired to act morally and support one another when a safe environment and clear standards are modeled and encouraged. To keep students engaged and invested in their own learning goals, teachers must emphasize intrinsic motivation in the classroom. It has a delightful and great effect on the learners if the teacher always ensures that his/her students feel safe and comfortable in every discussion especially when they are inside even outside the classroom or school. That way, it can attract the students' attention and they will pay attention to the discussion. Although there are distractions that cannot be avoided during class, the teacher must make sure the students engage and learn something. Because a safe classroom environment is one where learners feel physically confident, and socially comfortable. They know that their needs are taken care of and they are protected by caring and thoughtful teachers and members of their classroom.
The design and layout of a classroom may aid in the creation of a healthy learning environment. My classroom will be designed with a flexible working environment that can be changed to changing teaching requirements, allowing for independent and "silent" individual learning time as well as group work and larger class discussion times. I will also utilize bright colors, as it is commonly recognized that colors may influence our attitude. A boring, colorless classroom is unlikely to inspire many pupils; but, utilizing vibrant colors produces a joyful, dynamic setting that will captivate children. Furthermore, it should be familiar and comfortable; students should experience a sense of ownership and pride in their classroom. Personal elements such as children's displays, pegs, or personal drawers might be lost when classrooms must function as school halls or conference rooms. Children who work in a familiar classroom with their work displayed on the walls will experience a much greater feeling of ownership over their education. When the furniture is comfy, bright, and familiar, it creates a pleasant and engaging environment in which children may study and grow to their full potential.
Teachers have long sought to assist students in self-regulating their behavior in ways that promote learning. Classroom rules and procedures that are clearly stated and publicized assist students grasp what is proper and what is not, as well as the repercussions for rule infractions. For myself, I would create rules that are fair, pleasant, and consistent, letting my students know I care, making learning enjoyable, and keeping my classroom tidy.
Teachers may give information and advice, promote positive student conduct, and avoid negative behavior and accidents in a safe classroom. I can secure my students' safety and security by keeping a close eye on them at all times. Children, regardless of age, are prone to actions that might lead to harmful classroom situations. Furthermore, safety entails more than just physical safety. Students of any age might suffer anxiety and stress at the start of the school year as they adjust to a new learning experience. They must feel comfortable enough to be forthright about who they are and what they believe. They must feel comfortable sharing their opinions and asking questions without fear of being harassed or embarrassed for their worldview. Students become more open to learning when they are less emotionally distressed and feel comfortable.
Classroom rewards and penalties are critical components of effective classroom management, particularly at the primary school level. Teachers devise a strategy to ensure that their classroom is always under control and working well. Many teachers use a reward and punishment system. This system rewards students who follow class rules and do what they are meant to do, and also assigns punishments to students who do not follow the rules. Classroom incentive systems may be a useful technique for boosting students' work ethics and supporting them in developing self-management abilities. They function best when combined with other intrinsic and extrinsic motivators. With that in mind, here are my recommendations for developing a classroom incentive system with my pupils.
Encourage student participation in the incentive system
Students and caregivers should get regular feedback on their learning and conduct
Provide rich and interesting learning opportunities
Instruct students on goal setting, monitoring, and reflection
Extrinsic motivators should be gradually phased out
