Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of this activity, the FS student must be able to achieve the following intended learning outcomes:

1. identify practical and feasible classroom routines and procedures in learning;

2. evaluate appropriate educational intervention in creating safe and conducive learning; and

3. acquire higher concept of learning strategies in establishing own procedures;

Introduction

The learning environment is another important component aside from the curriculum in the teaching-learning process. This activity exposes you to another learning experience, which enables you to make your learning environment safe and conducive. As you immerse in the learning environment, you will learn the different methods and strategies to maximize the involvement of learners in the different classroom activities.

Observation

Direction: Read the following instructions below before doing the indicated tasks.

1. Interview a professional teacher from any school who is teaching in any grade level.

2. Follow the minimum health protocol at all times.

3. Observe etiquette during the interview process.

Analysis

Based from your observation, how is a typical classroom structured?

Desks are in straight rows facing the front of the classroom where the teacher typically stands or sits. Communication between and among teacher and students is face to face also they used ICT and non- ICT resources like TV laptop, and chalkboard. Based on our observation, the teachers are interactive and they manage well their classroom, they always interact with their students resulting a best discussion ever. In addition to that they are sensitive in terms of individual differences, in general. They always attending with learner perceptions of the degree to which these differences are accepted and adapted to varying instructional methods and materials.

Based from your observation, how do students communicate or interact during classes?

During discussion, students feel free to open up their thoughts or ideas about their lesson. There is also a respect in communicating with their teacher inside and outside the classroom. The students communicate and interact with one another and the teacher assures them of having their own breakout room wherein it is their place to talk, discuss, and brainstorm some topics. They will make sure that, from time to time, they get a feedback from them regarding the activity or the topic they chose. In that way, students' teacher interaction may be called effective because feedback eventually occurs.

What classroom routines and procedures did you observe and how could you apply it to promote essential learning?

The following are the routines and procedures that we've noticed in the classroom we have Prayer, checking of attendance, lunch or recess, early work completion, group or project work, paper distribution, homework, and behavior management (warning and action). one of the most important things to do when it comes to promoting effective teaching and learning is to create a great environment for teachers and students, everyone needs to feel safe, comfortable, and confident. Everyone benefits greatly from thoughtful, time- and effort-intensive classroom management throughout the entire academic year. And every time they have a class, they had already motivational approach of their students to make them positive vibes. They gave just like a motivational quotes and bible verses at the end of her class. And in the way they teach, they not only basis themselves on books and the internet, but they also basis it on what they experience in real life so that their students can relate to the topic. That's the routine they do in their classes. As a future educator, we will use and give importance what our cooperating teacher did too because we believe it can promote essential learning and it is a huge help on my future career.

2. What is the effect to the learners if the teacher creates a safe and conducive learning environment?

Students are inspired to act morally and support one another when a safe environment and clear standards are modeled and encouraged. To keep students engaged and invested in their own learning goals, teachers must emphasize intrinsic motivation in the classroom. It has a delightful and great effect on the learners if the teacher always ensures that his/her students feel safe and comfortable in every discussion especially when they are inside even outside the classroom or school. That way, it can attract the students' attention and they will pay attention to the discussion. Although there are distractions that cannot be avoided during class, the teacher must make sure the students engage and learn something. Because a safe classroom environment is one where learners feel physically confident, and socially comfortable. They know that their needs are taken care of and they are protected by caring and thoughtful teachers and members of their classroom.

One of the most crucial things teachers can do to encourage learning is to create classroom environments where learners feel comfortable. This makes it much simpler to teach effectively when the classroom is ordered and marked by mutual respect. Establishing a classroom environment where students feel comfortable, asking questions and participating in discussions is especially crucial if you're employing interactive teaching methods like small groups and cooperative learning. To study, students need to feel secure. For them to want to engage, they must feel secure. There are several things’ that teachers can do to create classroom environments that seem secure and well-run. A good learning environment can be greatly improved by establishing clear rules and regulations, although doing so is not always simple. We have witnessed how quickly the educational landscape has changed and evolved into a learning environment. To reach their students, teachers have risen to the challenge and discovered and explored innovative teaching methods.

If we will construct our own set of rules and regulations to make our learning environment safe and conducive it will not go away from what are the rules and regulations that we have learned in several years of our studies, it is important that we know, we can also use it in our prescribed teaching, and this would be the first, ensure that the classroom is pristine, organized, and welcoming. Look at your classroom and consider whether it serves to distract pupils or motivate them to accomplish their best. It is distracting if there are papers on the floor or items tumbling off the desks. Second, so that you never have to stop teaching or turn your back on your pupils, set up your classroom so that all the tools you need—all the books, calculators, and materials—are easily accessible. Third, make it simple to keep an eye on your students. Fourth, Make your classroom's physical layout conducive to movement and interaction. Make it simple for the children to gather their desks for small-group work. Organize things so that you can move about easily. Your engaging teaching is aided by your movement around the classroom. It aids in maintaining order in the classroom. And lastly, make it safe for students to participate and ask questions. No matter what a student says, make it a habit to respond with respect. Model respect for your students and teach them to show respect for one another.

Reflection

As a would be teacher, how can you make the environment safe and conducive to learners?

Learning happens not only in the classroom but also in other places and contexts throughout life. However, most life's lessons are learned inside those four walls. This is especially important while laying the groundwork for children's future learning. To encourage young children to enjoy learning new things, it is crucial to provide a favorable learning atmosphere. Due to how much time students spend there each day, schools are regarded as their second homes. Beyond having the appropriate school supplies and furniture, a conducive learning environment is made up of several significant components. When combined, these elements ought to create an environment where students feel free to discuss various ideas with their peers and teachers while also feeling at ease researching their own interests and those of various topics.

As a future teacher, to make our learning environment conducive and safe, we will make a rule that our students will follow to make sure that the environment of the class be conducive and safe. We will make sure that there will be no cyberbullying that can affect the interest of the students to communicate with us and with their classmates so that they can express their thoughts and opinions freely. And, we will tell our future students to choose a quiet place to work without distractions from things like family, friends, TV, and computer games so they can focus on the class. We will make sure that everyone’s opinion is accepted because for sure we would be interacting with the students who may have different backgrounds, opinions, and values so we should always be open minded and respectful.

One of the crucial duties of the teacher is to create a learning environment where students feel motivated to learn within the constraints and expectations of a safe classroom, through building relationships with students, teachers, and staff across the school can help prevent physical violence, bullying, and emotional abuse in the classroom so that teachers can create culturally responsive classrooms to foster a collaborative environment.
