Planning for the future might be something you don’t think is important right now. You might just be concerned with finishing school. However planning for the future does not have to mean having your entire life mapped out or knowing, for instance what you will be doing aged 30, 40 or 50. Let’s face it those ages seem a life time away.
Doing stuff now, in the present, is important for future plans.
For instance, forming good strong relationships, discovering interests, working on your talents, doing your best academically , volunteering, being part of an organisation such as cadets or the local drama or football club…..these all help you develop lifelong skills important for future planning.
What goals do you have….these can be for the next week, month or even year?
What do you plan to do after school?
What steps are you taking to make your plans a reality?
What help do you need from your family, friends or teachers to reach your goals?
What kind of grades are you getting?
Are you involved in sports or extracurricular activities?
Are you preparing to apply to college?
Do you have a job already? Do you like it? Is it something you could do for the next ten years?
What things do you enjoy?
What motivates you?
Do you know how to get the training you need for your future?
