Fast Mode

(& other rendering details)

Fast Mode can be activated by the GUI Sidebar or by hotkey ('m' by default, works as a toggle).

While active, the World will not be rendered (except when updated, for example, by interacting with any input, or changing a UI setting). This will speed up the computational frame rate greatly, especially on multi-core processors.

While in this mode, NO adverse effects should happen to simulation fidelity. The simulation will happen just as if you had let the program run and render normally.

Alternately, if the user wishes to still have a visual update, they may increase the Speed modifier in the GUI Sidebar (or with hotkey '+'). This will perform skipping of rendering some frames, with higher numbers leading to more skipped frames and an increased computational FPS. Note that no value of this will give the same performance increase as basic Fast Mode.

Feel free to use other features while in Fast Mode, such as saving, changing selection mode, or changing visualizations. The Main Window will update once with a snapshot of your selection and otherwise perform as expected.
