Rory's reading den

I wanted to read outside so I made a den with my daddy.

We used an old wooden pallet, and some cardboard for the floor. We used an old sheet and some stones and pegs to make the roof. Then I took a blanket and a cushion, took some toys and read in my den for ages.

The pegs were tricky but my daddy helped and I helped him carry the heavy wood. It’s next to my favourite tree to climb and I use it as the lookout. It also had some new friends because I found a baby snail, a snail and some woodlice!

I love being outdoors and want to make a mini-bears home next.

THE BOOK OF HOPES

I found this lovely book on the National Literacy Trust website. It's completely free to read online and contains a wonderful collection of short stories, poems, essays and pictures by lots of children's writers and illustrators.

The publisher Bloomsbury has dedicated it to all those currently working in hospitals and hope to publish a printed copy later in the year in support of NHS charities.

It's a great book to dip into, I hope you get a chance to look at it and if you do you could let us know what you think of it!
