This Seattle classic kitchen was very outdated. The vintage sink, stove/oven, and countertop were intact and dysfunctional. Space was ample, lending to the ease of designing within the existing room’s footprint. The homeowner’s objective was to incorporate modern features that coordinated with the classic era of their 1918 historical Greenwood home.

The new layout and materials met the aesthetic intent with added function to meet the homeowner’s desires. The craftsmanship and custom details of the cabinetry and millwork integrate seamlessly into the charm of the adjacent dining room, back door breezeway and hallways. The navy cabinets and three-tone inlay flooring enhance the space.

Additionally, several changes were made to enhance the space’s functionality. The east wall was reframed, creating an opening from the dining room to the kitchen. The sink, refrigerator and stove were relocated, and a range hood was added for efficient prep and cooking. Open corner shelving and long custom-built shelves above the sink were also added, as well as an appliance garage next to the new apron front sink and additional pantry storage next to the refrigerator.

All materials were selected with the home’s era in mind and installed to last a lifetime. The floor-to-ceiling subway tiles and Quartz countertops, custom-installed Marmoleum flooring with color-block border, undercabinet lighting and charming light fixtures tie it all together in this fun and functional remodeled kitchen.
