Get Away Room

This amazing home was huge but lacked intimate cozy spaces. There was a great need to create a space to celebrate what the homeowner loves – family, friends and fine art. The front door was relocated to create walls for a large grand entry. The entry was specifically designed as an art gallery to display the most prized pieces of their collection. Cable lighting was the solution to navigate the vaulted ceilings while providing directional spot lighting to enhance each piece of the collection. The existing dated tile was removed, and hardwood was continued throughout. A hardwood inlay of the compass rose, accurately pointing due north, adds additional artistic interest to the floor. Tile inlays were also added throughout to create movement and visual interest.

Just around the corner, you are greeted by the cozy casual atmosphere of the wet bar media space. Custom cabinetry was designed to store and display a collection of barware and artwork. Convenience hardware was added to every cabinet including concealed trash and roll-out shelves. Granite countertops add to the elevated scheme. The cabinetry extends to a media center with storage for components, blankets and games. To create a more intimate feeling, the height of the cabinets was kept a little lower than others in the home. Whether being entertained by the beautiful view, the splendid art or the wet bar and media, this space is upscale, versatile and welcoming.
