Inclusive CS
meets EUGAIN
Inclusive Cyber Security means - access, diversity, equity, inclusion, culturally responsive, universal, and intersectionality.
Project Roadmap for Inclusive Cybersecurity: a Game Development Project supporter is U.S. EMBASSY TALLINN, ESTONIA.
Project dates 1.09.2021-31.12.2023
Europe is expected to have 350 000 vacant jobs in Computer Science (CS) by 2022; in the US, the same number is said to be 209 000. Both Education 2030 OECD and the World Economic Forum pointed out the need for new kinds of skills including complex problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and managing people. These skills are a vital part of future success in a digital society.
Informatics Europe points to Information Technology (IT) professional development involving youth from the early stages and striving to offer universal access to the program. We state that the balanced increase of CS researchers of both genders is too low to be sustainable in the Baltics and EU. Becoming part of the talent pool is hard - students need to study and develop themselves, little sustainable training is provided, and there are only a few initiatives that also do not reach everyone. There is a lack of deeper research addressing youth, females, disadvantaged in many other ways - the problem in CS is evident both in the EU and the US.

Women are underrepresented in Informatics at all levels, from undergraduate and graduate studies to participation and leadership in academia and industry. The main aim and objective of EUGAIN is to improve gender balance in Informatics at all levels through the creation of a European network of colleagues working on the forefront of the efforts for gender balance in Informatics in their countries and research communities.
