The map below shows the outline of nine different sections of land owned by the Town of Eaton and managed by the Conservation Commission. All of this land was acquired between 1947 and 2014, mostly through gifts. Clicking on any section will provide information about when and how it was received.
The deed language for most of these lands is similar to that in the Henney deed from 1986:
“…the property above conveyed be forever maintained as forest and field to preserve its natural beauty for public recreational purposes, and managed by the grantee according to approved forest and wild life practices, with no dwellings or commercial enterprises to be located thereon.”
The map also shows an area based on the description of the property in the Simonds deed number 545-336. There was enough information in the deed to draw the outline of the property.
