Since the summer of 2022 Paul Nuccio and others have been walking the boundaries of town lands to determine whether boundary markings need to be reblazed or even surveyed to find out where they are. Most of town land is divided into distinct forestry units.
The map below shows the forestry units for which boundaries have been walked. Clicking on any unit will bring up a summary of information on the boundaries for that unit. In some cases there is also a link to a more detailed narrative of the condition of the boundary. There is also a link to a map of the types of trees that are found within that unit that was drawn by Daniel Stepanauskas, the Eaton town forester.
Several points are marked with black dots around the perimeter of each forestry unit. Clicking on any of these will bring up location information and notes about any features found at that point such as stone walls or iron pipes.
Not all town lands are shown on the map below. Areas that still need to be walked include the area around Foss Mountain, the Henney Property near the Foss winter parking lot, and the Joseph Snow Spring property.
The boundaries of most town lands are fairly well marked. However, several areas have boundaries that are in need of being repainted.
