Google Expeditions is defiantly a new technology that I have not used before, but it is a great digital technology tool that allows you to take your students on virtual learning experience that is only possible through a VR technology. It provides an immersive experience where students can explore the body and within a PDHPE context muscular anatomy which is a massive benefit for introducing digital technologies within the classroom as it provides students new learning experiences (Sanders & George 2017). Virtual reality devices and visual learning content can greatly enhance student understanding and engagement with the subject matter. Another positive from using Google expedition is that it provides students a different mode of learning and appeals to more visual learners (Sanders & George 2017), learning about muscular anatomy through a textbook and traditional research is beneficial but being able to immerse yourself into a virtual environment and see the muscles and joints functioning.
Another positive for VR within the classroom is that it allows students to visualize and interact with content in a way textbooks can't allowing for students to have control over their learning which has been seen to increase student engagement as the lesson is truly a student centred and the students have autonomy (Selwyn,2016). Google Expeditions is a valuable learning tool for teachers and students as it can be utilized in an infinite range of ways and creates unique and deep learning experiences that were otherwise not imaginable without this VR Technology.
With new technology and apps that students haven't used before some sort of written consent form or details should be taken to give parents a heads up on what this activity is and.to ensure students know what they are doing within google. The teachers should also use a school account to avoid personal details of children to be leaked online.
