Modern Playoffs Q3 on October 12, 2019!
-1 Chameleon Colossus +1 Collector Ouphe from the last list, because Vintage Decks are scary. This list is weakest vs UW, strongest vs G Tron.
I think either 0 Ouphe (give up on the matchup) or 3 Ouphe (have a chance) are good numbers.
The cards closest to being cut are 2nd Forest, Dryad Arbor, 3rd Evolution, 3rd Path, and all the Ouphes.
The cards that just barely didn't make the cut are Hushbringer, 4th Horizon Canopy, and Chameleon Colossus.
1-3 (3-6) is not good, but all the matches were competitive. I'm still not sure about the Ouphes. 0 might be correct. The Dredge matchup was punted away, and the other two are close and nothing to panic about. Disappointing but not the end of anything.
XOX Paradoxical (T5) Lifetime 2-3 vs Paradoxical
XOX Burn (T3) Lifetime 11-9 vs Burn
(Bye)
OXX Dredge (T3) Lifetime 9-2 vs Dredge
This is high upside. 33% chance at Druid for the T3 win, which is what we need to steal a G1.
Once Upon a Time misses Druid (which would win), but hits Ranger-Captain.
Die T3.
+3 Ouphe +1 Caterpillar -2 Once -1 Eldritch -1 Lunge
Opponent has the T2 Needle to stop my T3 win, so I use T3 getting Ouphe in play. T4 Finale for Caterpillar to kill Needle; win T5.
Umm no.
No.
ok; bottom Vizier and Forest.
T2 Urza. T2 Ouphe would not have won here. But it would have stopped T3 double EE on 2 blow one of them up!
Opponent taps off of EE on T4 to spin Urza, which gives us one draw at a Lunge to win on the spot. Don't hit it.
The trick is that we won the die roll, so we needed to win game 1, but when opponent broke serve, that was the end.
This matchup is very close. We can usually hit all our Forgetenders in every postboard game, and if we can steal game 1 that's a bonus.
Yup.
Forest Noble on 1.
T2 Druid gets Helixed. T3 Druid gets Skewered. T4 Ranger-Captain + Giver. The Ranger-Captain gets Rift Bolted and we are off to game 2.
-2 Lunge -2 Evolution -2 Vizier +2 Forgetender +3 Path +1 Caterpillar
Yup
Opponent kills lots of things. On the final turn, the two Forgetenders trade with a Blaze and a Blood to protect the combo. Win T9.
Series of unkeepable hands:
Keep this 5.
Bottom the Lunge and the uncastable Ranger-Captain.
T1 Noble gets a Searing Blood, T2 Druid gets a Skewer. T3 I Path an Eidolon and trade a Vizier for a Goblin Guide, going to 7.
Dead to any spell, and opponent has any spell.
This matchup is really easy. They can't race us and we have good sideboard cards for their red interaction.
Here we go!
Topdeck Once Upon a Time is a Giver of Runes. Opponent has 0 interaction spells and needs 2.
Win T3.
Maybe no Darkblasts! -2 Evolution +2 Forgetender
Not throwing this one back.
Don't hit the second land, and T2 two Conflagrates hit the bin. This is not a good combination.
Miss the second land a third time and concede.
Ok
T1 Noble, T2 Ranger-Captain for Forge-Tender because there is no way a Druid is survivng against T1 nothing. The Ranger-Captain gets an Axe, as suspected.
Here is the key turn of the game.
I played Druid + Forgetender.
That is really really really bad, because I go to 10 and instantly die to all those Bloodghasts in the bin.
I deserved this loss for sure.
