-1 Evolution +1 Birds from last time because everyone else is freaked out by 3 Evolutions 5 Dorks. So we're trying 2 Evolutions 6 Dorks.
The cards closest to being cut are 2nd Forest, 3rd Path, and all the Ouphes.
The cards that just barely didn't make the cut are Hushbringer, 4th Horizon Canopy, 3rd Evolution, and Chameleon Colossus.
5-0 (10-2). Super strong showing.
OO Naya? (T3, T4) Not tracked.
OXO Mardu Stoneblade (T7, T13) Lifetime 7-4 vs Stoneblade.
OO Amulet (T3, T4) Lifetime 5-2 vs Amulet.
OXO Eldrazi Tron (T3, T4) Lifetime 6-3 vs ETron.
OO Bant Stoneblade (T3, T4) Lifetime 8-4 vs Stoneblade.
We didn't get to see much of opponent's deck. They had Noble, Path, Thalia, and Scavenging Ooze.
This depends on Noble surviving for a lot of things to happen. Without Noble we can't T2 Druid and even if we can, we can't Call.
I'm keeping it.
Opponent mulls to 5 and plays a Forest which is my favorite thing. T2 Scavenging Ooze is not going to stop me. Win T3.
+2 Forgetender -1 Evolution -1 Bird
If one of these lands was a Once Upon a Time I would be in, but I'm not.
This is better. Bottom the Call
Opponent goes T2 Thalia.
I T2 Call for T3 Druid. They wait until after the Vizier resolves to play their interaction spell so they rightfully get murdered T4.
I don't know what to say about this matchup; discard is important and Shalai + Veil are reasonable plans against it. Red is harder for us to handle. If this deck became more popular it would probably be bad for us, but it would be even worse for us if this deck was popular and they cut the Stoneforge Mystics.
The perfect hand vs Burn but on the play in the dark.
Yup, this is better.
Bottom the nonmatching Heath. Lose Vizier to T1 Thoughtseize.
Why would opponent take Vizier? I don't understand. So I play Druid because I can't figure out what is going on.
Their T2 Thoughtseize takes Evolution. So I T3 Call for and play Ranger-Captain for Ballista.
Opponent surprise Stoneforge Mystics. I Lunge the Ranger-Captain for Giver, and play Shalai -- then block to prevent lifegain from Batterskull. Finish the game with the Giver letting me attack through Lingering Souls on Turn 7.
+4 Veil +1 Lightcaster +1 Caterpillar -2 Evolution -2 Vizier -1 Once -1 Bird
Can't throw this back.
Thoughtseize takes Vizier. I play T1 Fetchland, which loses the game.
This is actually important. If you are playing against a Liliana deck, your shot at a Dryad Arbor is much more important than your shot at saving a couple life points. I drew running lands, and if I had opened on Plains, I would have had the Heath available to win the game.
Technically Plague Engineer kills us, but we would win if we sequenced lands correctly to sac a Dryad Arbor to the Liliana.
-1 Caterpillar -1 Once +2 Path for Plague Engineer.
Veil but only one combo piece. I tossed it back. I was **definitely** supposed to keep it.
I kept this but I am sad at the loss of my good 7.
This is the longest game ever and I am not writing about all of the opponents' punts.
Mine were:
Bad mulligan
Bad fetch
Bad playing a topdecked Noble instead of killing opponent's board with my Ballista.
Opponent found way more punts though.
Win T13.
Amulet is really good for us. Their sideboard plans are blanked by Veil and they can't really race us or EE us fast enough game 1.
Easy.
Opponent plays three amulets on T2 which is pretty spooky but luckily we won the die roll, so we win T3.
-1 Shalai -2 Evolution -1 Bird -1 Lunge +1 Ouphe +4 Veil
I kept this because it's a 33% chance at a T3, or it has some chance at protected T4s.
I end up playing a Giver that gets Dismembered, and my T3 Druid has Veil backup. They needed 3 interaction spells by T4 and had 1.
T4 win.
Eldrazi Tron is better at stopping us than normal tron, but 3x Path and the ability to race is pretty good vs them. The thing I'm really afraid of is T3 Karn for Spyglass into T4 lock me out.
This is technically T2 Druid but has nothing else going on. Send it back.
Haha sure, a bit better yes. Bottom the Noble:
Opponent plays T2 Chalice on Zero. That means Eldrazi Tron, right? Maybe? I don't know at all. Win T3.
+1 Ouphe +3 Path +1 Caterpillar -2 Dorks -1 Call -1 Shalai -1 Lunge (?)
This is a T4 with no protection and no interaction on the draw. No thanks.
OK I guess:
Bottomed the second Druid. My T1 Noble lives to cast T2 Druid, but my T3 win is taken by the Thought-Knot Seer; I don't rebuild it even with the Path.
I lose everything to T4 All is Dust.
Nooooooo:
Ok, here we go:
Bottom the Ballista. I get a couple draws at the Vizier and hit it on the third try. Finale or Call also would have worked. 3 draws at 11 hits from 53 is almost exactly 50%. Actually more than that if you count 1/3 of each Once Upon a Time.
Win T4.
Stoneblade is tricky when it is Spell Quellery. Lunge is great though.
Yup!
Opponent passed T2 and then played T3 Stoneforge for Batterskull. No interaction. Win T3.
+3 Path -2 Evolution (Queller), +1 Caterpillar -1 Once -1 Lunge
This Once Upon a Time is either a Druid or a land, which is great:
It was a Horizon Canopy. Play T1 Noble T2 Call + Bird.
Opponent plays T4 Teferi bouncing our Druid -- it dies in response and we win T4 with Lunge.
5-0 (10-2).
