At 6:00 am Bapu and his band of marchers left Navagam. He thanked the government officials who had tendered in their resignations on his call. The band marched from Navagam to Vasana, roads were lined by villagers from all around the state to watch their beloved leader walk among them, their Bapu. They welcomed him with hails of ‘Long live Mahatma Gandhi!’ and wished him a decisive and quick victory with beating of traditional drums, bugles and trumpets, it was sight to behold. At Vasana people had built a beautiful thatched hut made from rice straw bundles under the shade of a giant mango tree. At Vasana Bapu talked against the practice of untouchability and praised Sardar Patel who was arrested few weeks before the Dandi march while he was making the arrangements for the march and reminded people they had to pay their respects to the Sardar by offering sacrifices of their own. After lunch and spinning at Vasana at 6 pm marchers marched towards Matar, the next night halt.
At 7 the band of marchers arrived at Matar, there was another grand welcome awaiting them. At Matar Bapu addressed the people, a purse was donated to him by the leaders of the village as a contribution to his cause. At 8: 00 pm Bapu addressed a meeting in the village and gave message of Swadeshi, the boycott of salt law and reminded the people again of the injustice done to Sardar Patel, his crime making arrangements for the Dandi Kooch (March). The meeting ended at the 8:30 PM and after his daily routine Bapu and his band rested for the day.
