Thursday at 6 o'clock in the morning Bapu and his party of eighty marchers left Ankleshwar to walk to the village of Sajod, after taking leave of Ba and the group of women from the Ashram. Speaking at Sajod Bapu said he was surprised although they produced the best quality of cotton in that district they still were buying foreign made clothes and were not self reliant about their own clothing. He said if every household began spinning khadi and manufacturing their own clothing it would save so much revenue for the economy of the district. He said, ‘I have noticed there is significant alcohol abuse in the district and I appeal to all of you to give up that bad habit’. At 6 o'clock in the evening Bapu and his band of marchers left Sajod and walked to Mangrol.
After five mile hikes they reached Mangrol at 8.30 pm. This was one of the difficult hikes. The road was hardly six inches wide footpath and it was surrounded by thorny bushes and so the marchers and Bapu when they arrived in Mangrol had many scratches and tears in their clothing. Dr. Chandulal assured Bapu that as soon as he reached Dandi and broke the salt law, he along with groups of volunteers would go to the four district headquarters and offer satyagraha there. Bapu and his team rested at Mangrol that night.
