Travel Time Accuracy for TMC

Objective

Provide analysis and support to DOT to maintain accurate display of travel times as part of the traveler information program.

The Iowa DOT currently displays travel times on DMS in the Des Moines area during the morning and afternoon commutes (6-9am & 3-6pm). The DOT would like to ensure the accuracy of the DMS travel times as well as compare the accuracy to INRIX travel times.

Next Steps

• TransCore has recently started to ingest INRIX data to post travel times on simulated DMS. Will evaluate the travel times on simulated DMS to actual DMS based on sensors.
