Support improved operational decision making for winter maintenance.
This will be accomplished through three specific activities:
Heat Mapping: Develop a summary of AVL pings and display summary cost, material, and plow pass information on a map
Visualizing Maintenance Impacts: Provide a better understanding of the impact of winter maintenance on mobility and safety in user-defined time periods and locations
Plow Blade Wear Analysis: Conduct an analysis to understand plow blade performance based on experienced wear
Current Work Activities
On-going:
Continuing to develop the process for conflating snow plow pings to the LRS which would then be converted to lines for reporting the snow plow material statistics (Task 3) as well as then relating the RAMS for blade wear, etc (Task 5).
Began developing the process of dynamically segmenting the conflated snow plow data so we can report the material usage and other metrics in a dashboard (Task 3).
Requested and received additional snow plow data and snow plow metadata from Kyle Perkins for testing purposes (received 10/9/2017)
Working with Jing to identify additional data sources for which would be needed for Task 4
Next Steps:
Need to request real-time data from Craig
Completed Work
Conducted field review of trucks and worked with Maintenance staff to develop measurement procedures for blade wear
Worked with Office of Maintenance to develop Snow Plow Blade Wear Measuring Kit for each participating truck. This includes specific measuring instructions per unique blade type, clip board with form, images instructing how to measure. Set up a data base for measurements and images as they are reported.
Met with DMM's to coordinate measurements over the season.
Distributed blade wear measuring kits to all participating garages.
