Finding curriculum that you want to use can be tough, but don't worry! There is plenty of it out there. What is uniquely amazing about CTE courses is that we have Frameworks to work from. All of the topics you need to cover in your class will be laid out in your frameworks as well as how many hours you need to spend on each one!
Helpful Suggestions
Here are some resources for you to use:
Network with teachers from other schools in your content area. Send them an email and ask them what they use. While there is an entire CTE department in your school, you will likely be the only CTE teacher teaching your content area. Connecting with teachers outside of your school is an excellent resource and may be the most widely used and most helpful.
Ask your district director what was used by the previous teacher. They will likely have access to it.
Enroll in a curriculum Professional Development course. These are often 2-3 day courses your district will pay for, and they help you lay out your lessons for the entire year. This is also a great place to network. There are often people in your content area from other schools there!
Teachers Pay Teachers is a website with many resources including lessons, unit plans, or full curricula for almost any subject matter, even ice breakers for the first few days of school! They are all very reasonably priced.
Google! Google your content area and curriculum. You will be surprised by how much is out there. You can pick and choose from things and create what you like.
Facebook Groups are a great way to network and share curriculum with those who teach the same subjects. All of the content is free!

Lesson Planning Suggestions-
CTE classes are different than other core content. We give hands-on experience for students. When planning lessons, consider offering one teacher lead instruction day per week, one student led instruction day per week and follow up with a project to support what they have learned.
