Every day, young people capture the world through the lenses of their smartphones, yet many lack the artistic foundation to truly appreciate landscape composition or the scientific insight to understand the ecosystems around them. Needs analyses conducted across our partnership highlighted significant gaps in students' knowledge regarding water chemistry, environmental quality, and botany. Furthermore, standard school curricula often lack the cross-curricular approach needed to connect these vital disciplines.
Having successfully strengthened our natural sciences profile over the last decade through European partnerships in chemistry and ornithology, our school identified a critical need to expand this vision. We need to bridge geography, biology, ecology, and digital arts into a cohesive learning experience that moves beyond traditional classroom boundaries and fosters a real commitment to environmental protection.
The project aims to empower at least 60 students from each partner school with a complex set of skills, knowledge, and eco-friendly attitudes that go beyond the standard curriculum. By combining biology, chemistry, geography, sociology, and digital arts, the project creates an immersive, cross-curricular environment where theoretical knowledge turns into practical action.
Through international collaboration across diverse habitats and regions, students will explore water quality, local flora, environmental protection and human settlements from a broader European perspective. Ultimately, the project seeks to inspire a new generation of environmentally conscious young people who are equipped to protect their local ecosystems and express their scientific discovery through artistic and digital means.
O1 The development among 640 students of the scientific skills in chemical analysis, being capable to identify currently present anions and cations in water.
O2. The development among 640 students of the scientific skills related to biology, being capable to identify different tree and bush species from the European continent.
O3. Acquainting 720 students with basic skills in photography, with an emphasis on the exposure and the application of the general rules of photographic composition.

23 teachers and 24 students were trained on initial water chemical analysis protocols, laying the formal scientific foundation for subsequent local multiplication activities involving 640 target students.
The meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, aimed to develop photographic knowledge and skills, among teachers and students, as a foundation for the project’s three deliverables (the three photographic albums). Participants were 25 teachers and 25 students from all partner schools. They engaged, after the training, in: landscape, wildlife, night, urban, macro and portrait photography in the field activities, organized during the meeting.
The third meeting in Anyksciai distr. Troskunai, LITHUANIA, where the basis of the first photo album were laid, creating, discussing and agreeing upon different layouts to be adopted in the assumed intellectual outputs, reunited together 20 teachers and 24 students in discussing the structure of the final deliverables.
What was laid down as agreed in Lithuania, was continued with the second deliverable of the project at the coordinator's school, in Romania. A group consisting of 19 teachers and 26 students defined the technical and artistic layout of the final Treescapes album (establishing a strict 12-photo set per species across 4 facing pages). Students co-designed layout concepts, while teachers formalized the peer-review evaluation criteria.
The 20 teachers and 19 students, present from all the partners, engaged in intensive field observations, macro-photography masterclasses, local biotechnology showcases (hydroponic gardening), and practical conservation work, including invasive species removal at the Mata da Machada reserve and exploring biodiversity in Tapada Nacional de Mafra.
