The participants were 9th and 10th grade students at Colegiul Național ”Simion Bărnuțiu”, a general education school, located in Șimleul Silvaniei, România, where they are studying modern languages and economics. The age range of the students is 15-16 years old, being oriented, in their home studies, towards modern languages and economics. The aim for the Romanian students is to foster foreign language studies and enrichment in Cypriote History and Geography through humanistic subjects as History, Geography, Universal Literature both through attendance to the classes in the school and through outdoor activities related to History, Geography of the local city and region.
Students attended STEAM workshops in the Cypriote school, organically integrating their knowledge in different domains with practical skills to apply all the components in real life and practice. As being more students in humanistic study lines, the students practiced Art as an element which fosters creativity, empathy and design.
Learning Beyond the Classroom: A Journey Through History at the Archaeological Museum of Paphos
The learning process during our mobility in Cyprus extended far beyond the traditional boundaries of the school, reaching into exceptional cultural spaces. The visit to the Archaeological Museum of Paphos offered students a valuable non-formal learning opportunity, bringing to life the theoretical concepts studied in History and Universal Literature classes. By directly observing relics, ceramics, and artifacts that reflect the succession of civilizations on the island, participants developed their critical thinking and historical perspective, gaining a deeper understanding of how museum exhibits serve as living testimonies of ancient lifestyles, beliefs, and culture.
From Artifacts to Urban Space: Discovering the Nea Paphos Site
Our hands-on learning experience continued seamlessly with the outdoor exploration of the impressive Nea Paphos Archaeological Site (UNESCO World Heritage site). Walking along ancient paths, students not only admired the world-famous Greco-Roman mosaics —true masterpieces depicting mythological stories in stone—but also analyzed the urban layout of an ancient city, identifying key elements such as the Agora, the heart of public and commercial life. Furthermore, navigating the site revealed a fascinating layer of overlapping history, where ancient architecture stands alongside Byzantine and Ottoman influences that emerged centuries later, providing students with an applied lesson in the evolution and continuity of Mediterranean civilizations.

The participants were 10th grade students at Colegiul Național ”Simion Bărnuțiu”, a general education school, located in Șimleul Silvaniei, România where they are studying computer sciences and natural sciences. The age range of the students is 15-16 years old. During this mobility, Romanian students integrated into daily classroom activities at a partner secondary school in Malta, acquiring knowledge across various subjects relevant to their specialization. This immersive experience aimed to boost their foreign language fluency, enhance their digital and scientific skills, and broaden their educational horizons.
Thanks to the welcoming structure of our host school in Malta, our students attended classes in small groups of 2 to 4. Rotating daily across different classrooms allowed them to experience a wide variety of subjects and connect with many local peers. As highlighted by ongoing monitoring and the final evaluation, the educational, social, and cultural impact was immense—fuelled by immersive English-language instruction, exposure to a new education system, and meaningful exchanges with students from diverse backgrounds.
Cultural exploration was an essential daily dimension of our week in Malta, with afternoons dedicated to discovering the island's heritage after morning classes. Visits to history-rich sites like Valletta, Mdina, Rabat, Birgu, and the stunning Gozo Island offered participants deep cultural, historical, and social insights. Furthermore, students explored local flora and fauna firsthand, responding thus to the requirements from the learning agreement, using interactive botanical identification apps—a true testament to the idea of continuous learning.

15 06 2026 - 19 06 2026
The participants were 9th grade students at Colegiul Național ”Simion Bărnuțiu”, a general education school, located in Șimleul Silvaniei, România where they are studying computer sciences and natural sciences. The age range of the students was 15-16 years old, most of them being oriented towards sciences and informatics. Daily interest was to participate in school activities, in a secondary school from Turkey, in which they tried to assimilate some elements of the different subjects taught in that school for similar study lines. The aim for the Romanian students was to foster foreign language studies, to develop scientific and digital skills, attending activities in a Turkish school.
Beyond the classroom, every afternoon was an opportunity for cultural immersion. Students explored the rich history of Troy, Assos, Bursa, as well as the natural beauty of the Canakkale Region. To fulfill the mobility's environmental objectives, participants studied the Turkish flora and fauna directly in nature, using specialized identification apps, as required by their learning agreement and by their educational needs, identified at the beginning of the mobility, proving that learning continued seamlessly throughout the entire journey.
Looking back at these three series of moments—from immersive classroom activities to rich study and cultural journeys—the profound impact of this mobility becomes truly clear. In just one week, our students unlocked new academic perspectives, sharpened their language, geographical, historical, scientific and digital skills, and developed a deeper global awareness. While coordinating international projects requires significant dedication and behind-the-scenes effort from our project team, seeing our students return transformed, confident, and motivated reaffirms our commitment. For our school, creating these life-changing educational experiences will always be worth every effort.
