Self-Awareness
Students can use self-awareness in the classroom by displaying how they are feeling verbally or physically. If a student is aggravated or upset, then can excuse themselves and go to the calming corner as a resource.
A teacher can make sure that the students know the age appropriate terms and phrases that connect with emotions. Such as dissapointed, angry, upset, mad, happy, excited, etc.
Self-Management
Teacher's can have a discussion with their class on ways students can motivate themselves in their own ways. Through techniques that make be personable to them
Model self-management to the class, such as "I am getting a little anxious, I am going to take a deep breath". The students will see this and may try to do the same when they are also feeling that way.
Social Awareness
One way that social awareness can be used in the classroom is by teaching students how to empathize with others. Such as identifying how others may feel and how to help peers in certain situations
Within a lesson, the teacher can; define and discuss what empathy is. The students will become aware and understand how to use empathy every day.
Relationship Skills
The teacher can teach a lesson on how to begin an interaction with others. Such as introducing themselves, and conversation starters that enable a more in depth conversation.
Conflict resolution is great to teach in a classroom. It can be useful to students everyday and their future. Additionally, it can be used outside of the classroom; at home or with friends.
Responsible Decision Making
Discussing the classroom rules and regulations and how important they are for a good classroom environment. Without them students would not make responsible decisions
A lesson on responsible decision making could come a book that the classroom is reading. It is a great way to incorporate a lesson.
