Discussion Prompt
This is an ungraded discussion space for students to discuss any and all course-related topics informally, ask questions, and build community.
Community Discussion Board Best Practices:
Begin by introducing yourself through sharing your responses to the following questions–
How long have you been teaching Pre-K?
What is the most rewarding thing about teaching Pre-K?
What is the most challenging thing about teaching Pre-K?
What do you hope to gain from this course?
As you progress through this mini-course, use this discussion board to post any questions you may have regarding the course content. While a course instructor regularly monitors this discussion board for questions and will respond to them as soon as possible, fellow classmates may also chime in to offer their thoughts, insights, and suggestions.
Be respectful and constructive. Remember that your classmates come from different backgrounds and have different perspectives. Always be polite and professional in your tone. If you disagree with someone, do so respectfully by focusing on the ideas, not the person.
All discussion board posts must be written in your own words. If you use a quote or reference, be sure to properly cite your source.

(MLO) 2.2 - Demonstrate how to utilize Hatch Insights™ features to generate a small group lesson plan for students in your classroom.
Assignment Description
After viewing the video explaining two ways on how to generate a small-group lesson plan on Hatch Insights™, you are now ready to use the platform to create and submit a small-group lesson plan that you will implement in your Pre-K classroom. You are writing this plan so that you and other teachers can easily read and implement it in your class.
Directions:
Decide on which of the two ways outlined in the video to apply when crafting your small-group lesson plan.
Create a document either on Microsoft Word or Google Docs with the following format specifications:
1" margins on all sides.
Use 11-point Arial font. You may use bold or italic to emphasize headings, words, and phrases in the body of your text.
If you use an acronym or an abbreviation in your lesson plan, spell out the first occurrence. Limit use of acronyms and abbreviations to those that are broadly known and commonly used.
In your lesson plan, create the following sections using information from your Hatch Insights™ platform:
Name of small-group activity
Learning Objective, which includes the skill being targeted.
First names of student participants (No full names in order to maintain anonymity)
A description of the activity, with directions on how to implement and assess the students. Depending on your knowledge of these students, you may decide to adapt and modify the curricular activity to suit their individual needs better.
Once your lesson plan is complete, you have two options to submit it:
Download the file to your computer and submit as a File Upload.
Share the file, copy the file URL, and submit as a Website URL.
(NOTE: change the "Share" setting (located on the upper right hand side of your document) to "Anyone with the link can view" to make sure it is accessible to your evaluators)
Please read: How do I enter a URL as an assignment submission?
Reflect on your experience creating your discussion and assignment prompts. How could you use the information you gather from these prompts to continually improve the learning experience for future learners?
I leaned heavily on my current storyboard and alignment matrix for my mini-course's CLOs, MLOs, Learning Activities, and Assessments, to develop discussion and assignment prompts that would stem from my course learning objectives. My job was made easier since I had already spent the time ironing out and documenting the connections, even incorporating discussion activities and assignments to the storyline. This also made me feel confident that whatever activity I was creating would address the end goals of the course. The next challenging task for me was learning how to create these activities on the Canvas LMS. Thankfully, the online Instructure Canvas LMS community was very helpful in this regard. The data I gather from these prompts will help me determine which areas students struggle the most--whether that be understanding and application of content or the pacing of the course. The Community Discussion Board would be especially helpful to gather data on which modules or activities students may find confusing or would need further clarification.
