This digital document can provide my mini-course learners with an overview of the key features of Hatch Insights™. It addresses module learning objective (MLO) 1.1. which is to identify what Hatch Insights™ is and ways that it can support classroom instruction.
This week's exercise has taught me the importance of always having the audience in mind when designing and developing material. Hence, visual and audio accessibility need to be considered in the creation process. I used Canva.com to create the infographic and used its accessibility features to add alt text to the document. I was planning to upload it onto my portfolio website as a PDF to allow access to a screen reader. However, the infographic image was not showing properly. I decided to upload it as a JPEG image instead, and made sure to add the audio file and audio transcript to increase accessibility.
I used the Audacity application to record the audio file to accompany the infographic. I learned that in order to make the audio file accessible on Google website, one would need to embed the audio file link. One cannot attach it using the Google Drive function on your Google website.
Below is the completed digital media checklist evaluation for the Key Features infographic.
