Vaping has become the new epidemic of 2019, and schools are starting to do something about it. People all around the world are starting to vape, and research is starting to show the deadly side effects. Since vapes do not blow smoke, a normal smoke detector cannot detect it. Vaping blows a cloud of vapor with chemicals including diacetyl, glycol propylene, and more harmful chemicals. Here at Central Cambria, new “vape detectors” have been installed in the bathrooms of the high school and middle school. These will detect the air quality and will alert administration’s phone as soon as it detects a change. It also detects loud sounds to hopefully decrease fighting. These changes are a step toward keeping the school vape free, as well as bully free.
