Sports Facilities Update

A proposal spearheaded by Central Cambria community member and alumnus Randy Seymor could change Central Cambria sports for the better. The school board met on Monday, September 8 where Seymour introduced his proposed improvements to the football, soccer, baseball, and softball fields. According to Superintendent Jason Moore, “The Board has approved contracting with Eckles Architecture and Engineering for design and construction management of a possible project.” These proposed improvements would include two new turf fields and upgraded renovations to existing facilities. The plan includes the addition of turf and LED lights to the football field with a new 8-lane track surrounding it. The baseball field will be transformed into a parking lot for the football and soccer games. The plan would relocate the girls bathroom to where the concession stand is, and the concession stand would be relocated to where the locker rooms are currently. A reconfiguration of the seating plan is also included, with upgraded bleachers to be installed at the current football stadium. Additionally, the current practice football field adjacent to the school would be turned into an all-turf multi-purpose field. A baseball field and softball field in would be installed in opposite corners of the multi-purpose turf area, with the middle lined for soccer matches. A final decision on this project has yet to be decided. Further action will be taken on the upcoming October and November school board meetings.
