The girls have had another amazing season 10-1. They carried the momentum of last year's season into more success this year. Despite the loss of seniors Sadee LaRose and Ally Simmers from last year's district team, The Lady Devils are headed back to the State competition yet again. Led by senior Jaylee Sikora, 2019 LHAC Individual Champion, the Lady Devils won districts on October 11 for the fourth year in a row. Jaylee led the team with a score of 83. The trio of Jaylee, junior Megan Stevens, and junior Cydney Forcellini shot a combined score of 272, which was enough to beat second place finisher Penn Cambria’s score of 302. “I think we have a good chance of doing something we haven’t done before,” Jaylee Sikora said. “I feel like we can place much higher. We all just need to stay calm, relax and enjoy our last round for the season.” Last year’s squad placed 5th at the season-ending state competition. This year’s state competition was held in York, PA, at Heritage Hills Country Club on Wednesday, October 23. The team finished 5th in the state in Class AA!
The Central Cambria boys golf team, led by senior Brian Walwro, went 5-5 over the course of the 2019 season. Walwro, along with seniors Alec Gabrielson, Sam Swope, Nolan Johnson and sophomore Ian Mulligan, rounded out the team’s normal top five. The rest of the Red Devils roster was seniors Ben Schweitzer, Matt Gauden, sophomores Lavan Powell, Noah Wilson, and freshman Corbin Vrabel.
