Interest Meeting: Meet others joining CCW's Community Service Committee!
Context: The ability of our club members to combine forces and participate in community service of all kinds in the DMV is one of the most rewarding and impactful aspects of membership. CCW's committees, points of contact, goals and meeting schedules are provided at our Committees Page so that our members can browse, choose a committee based on availability, and help out where their strengths will make a rewarding difference. Consult that page-- it's really helpful!

Job Description: WEB ADMINISTRATOR JOB DESCRIPTION:
CCW seeks a Web Administrator to develop and oversee a tech committee that draws upon and develops the skills of present volunteers and future recruits. The primary focus is administering the Club's Google-based CRM (currently Wild Apricot). Administrator will review the 2026 audit of the Club's tech uses, then further define and assign roles that facilitate web-based communications. Skills desired:
Database management; concise, clear communication via e-mail. Positive team-building attitude to support CCW volunteers (most of whom have full-time jobs and tech expertise levels very widely. ) An ability to project future tech and communication needs. An appreciation and support of the role that CCW plays to develop a sense of community, fun, and learning among DMV alums.
Support Board by maintaining clear documentation of functional areas to include assigning and tracking usernames and passwords and levels of administrative stewardship of our tech platforms. Conduct a membership wide vote each spring to approve a new Board of Directors. Support Treasurer's work with digital payables and receivables and ensure timely payment for subscriptions and tech platform. Support Membership VP to ensure integrity and accuracy of membership database. Work with Communications team to update website pages.
Experience in any of the following platforms is useful, but training can also be arranged:
- Google Administrator functions
- Wild Apricot
- Affinipay
Time commitment:
Much of the CRM management can be self-paced, though the time commitment can be significant on occasional weeks. General monitoring of email for troubleshooting a couple of times a week continues year-round.
Whether you are an unpaid intern for the moment, or a volunteer, it is possible that this position will develop into a paid position-- a first ever in Cornell Club of Washington experience. Coming to Board Meetings, Second Tuesdays each month can establish your strong interest, but it is not vital.
Tech Platforms any experience with any of the platforms that CCW uses?
Any interest to help our Communications Director compose and send the quarterly newsletters with Ithaca's software "I-Modules?" It's a duty for only 4 times a year. I've requested tutorials and the point-person at Tech at Cornell who would facilitate our learning. What is availability for a lunchtime meeting these next ten days?
Wild Apricot's role in CCW: $6000 per year platform what it is tutorials
1) As of 11:30 am Sat. Jan 24, we have received no updates from DCCK, and that makes me confident that we are good to go! We've called and inquired via email about their protocols for cancellation due to weather but have not heard back.
2) Watch for emails from DCCK. If you are walking from the metro, be sure to have good shoes (for an event when you'll be standing, and for a (potentially) snowy sidewalk trip back to the metro or your other transportation after we have done our service that ends at 4 pm.
3) All of the following are verified to be registered with CCW: Elysa, Peter, Alicia, Maggie, Liz, P, Bruce, Rebekah, Kathryn, and John H.. Liz G., Richard and Julia H, Grace and Lauren. We welcome our waiting lister Alex / Alejandro if he wants to come as back-up! Something tells me DCCK will have some work for him to do!

Registration fees are non-refundable. (Honestly, we just don't have the manpower in our all-volunteer organization to manage the accounting involved for a an event of this sort.)
Registration is free for members of the Cornell Club of Washington, but, sorry, not free for non-members. CCW provides scholarships to needy students, and I think that's where most of the dues $$ goes. But we face a big annual fee to run our web platform. So, feel good about keeping CCW financially sound for its dues paying members. (Maggie works real hard to make social and charitable events unfancy and dirt cheap. )

1) IMPORTANT UPDATE!!! Lawless Forge warns against using MapQuest for your directions. They say:
"Please DO NOT use MapQuest for directions. When using Uber, be sure to double-check the destination address. Uber pulls data from MapQuest, which is incorrect. Unfortunately, we've been trying to resolve this issue with MapQuest without success."

Please do not make separate arrangements with Lawless Forge to pay for our event without a written confirmation from Maggie... as your registration must move through the CCW web site to be paid for and valid with our CCW group. LOL: They do not have enough anvils to handle numbers for which we have not accounted in our reservation. If you are one of our LAST DAY ADDITIONS, please bring your checkbook in order to make your payment to CCW or let her watch you pay CCW via credit card with Maggie at the door. Thank you!
