Under Construction for 2026. Stop Back. Things shifting according to participants' interest and availability.
Let's have a BLAST. Refresh this page often 😜.
Organizers of the race to assist with logistics, planning and manning.
Squad Captains who will lead a squad of 4: send your contact info (name, address, phone) to Maggie. In both cases, folks must be dues-paying members of CCW only, please. Send to Librarian M S @ gmail. com
How much of a time commitment is the Amazing Race?
Variable according to interest, but here's an outline. Legs 1 and 2 are organizational in nature and the minimum can be conducted witih Race Organizers digitally.
Leg 1 (Registration) - Squad Leader completes it by April 30. (Members of their squad can participate digitally and asynchronously.)
Leg 2 - Optional for any members of the Squad if they want to complete fun options by April 30.
Leg 3 - Race Day in Alexandria is May 9 beginning with Race Day Sign-in from 9:30 - 10:35 and RACE STARTS at 10:45
Legs 4-7 - lots of hilarious fun and rushing around Alexandria. (One part even includes a COMMUNITY SERVICE element!)
(When you are on your Last Legs: Cash Bar Happy Hour at ___ beginning at 4:30 pm) All Cornellians invited to come meet and toast the champs! Champs get their first round for free.
What is CCW's Amazing Race?
Family friendly event, dog-friendly for parts, fun for people of all ages and nothing too physically demanding unless you are hard-core. You WILL want to wear sneakers for comfort and some "rushing around" or jumping up and down with uncontainable excitement.
Who? Cornell Club Members who become Squad Captains may invite non-Cornell Club members such as spouses, kiddos, significant others, visiting in-laws, your old roommate from the U-Halls or Cornell frat, friends onto their squads. Squads are initially formed with 3-4 members, but can add more from the Substitute Pool on Race Day, May 9, if needed.
What to expect: Join for a multi-hour event fashioned on the television reality show The Amazing Race. It will be a day of fun competition between 3-6 member squads. Just like the show, it will have some "rushing around," some problem-solving, scavenger-hunting, culture/history learning, obstacles, alliance-building, alliance-betraying, cut-throat strategy, and will include a community service activity that supports Stroke Smart. Annnnnnnnd just like the TV show, the winners of the race will get 1 meeeeeeeeeelion dollars!
We will have a pool of "substitutes" in case any squad needs one for a leg or more.
The challenges will engage you and your team in social, service, physical, cultural group activities with your squad racing You will be given clues and challenges. In each leg of the race, there will be squads that advance but also includes the strong possibility of elimination due to failure to complete the challenge(s) faster than your competition. The last teams standing at the end of May 9 will race to be FIRST ACROSS THE FINISH LINE in Alexandria and will win $1,000,000.*
Just like the ACTUAL reality TV show.
Except I'm lying about the money. We'll have you win something cool, though, and often there will be prizes for each leg even if it's just a round of beers or a coupon to take the family to the movies.
Start organizing your squad. Or if you need us to put you on a squad, we'll do it!
Bookmark this web site for access to clues and competition rules as they unfold.
Squad Leaders should try to attend one. Attending is optional for other members of your squad, but it can be useful. Plus, the meetings are fun ways to meet more Cornellians. Squad Leaders must be members of the Cornell Club, please.
