Leo is a clinical laboratory professional based in San Francisco, California. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis, and is currently completing a Biotechnology Work Experience Certification at City College of San Francisco. Leo works full-time while concurrently serving as a student intern in a Clinical Molecular Genetics Laboratory, where his work focuses on automated genomic DNA extraction and quantification workflows in a CLIA- and CAP-regulated pre-amplification laboratory.
Through his internship, Leo has developed hands-on proficiency with automated liquid-handling extraction platforms, fluorometric DNA quantification methods, end-to-end patient sample processing workflows, quality assurance and quality control practices, and integrated automated workcell operations. His previous laboratory and professional experiences have also strengthened his technical problem-solving abilities, adaptability, workflow coordination, and communication skills in fast-paced clinical environments.
Leo is passionate about the intersection of molecular diagnostics and patient care. His future goal is to pursue Clinical Laboratory Scientist licensure and eventually contribute to the training and mentorship of future laboratory professionals while supporting advancements in patient care and laboratory medicine.
