Steve Han holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University and spent six years working in Silicon Valley as a hardware and ASIC design engineer before transitioning to photography. In 2016, he began exploring a return to technology, and in 2020, his interest in Brain-Computer Interfaces led him to take the Exploring Neuroscience course at CCSF, where he developed a fascination with the microscopic world.
He holds multiple certifications, including Web Application Programming at CCSF, AWS Developer Associate, and DataCamp Data Scientist, and is on track to receive the Biotechnology Work Experience certificate this summer. In 2023, while working on the AI Engineer Summit Web Application, personal circumstances prompted him to shift his focus to biotechnology, leading him to enroll in the Biotechnology Work Experience program.
His interests lie at the intersection of bioinformatics and computational biology, particularly in multi-omics and the application of image processing and computer vision techniques to microscopic imaging. Although already proficient in Python and various programming tools, his internship at UCSF’s Weaver Lab has further strengthened his programming skills, improved his ability to interpret scientific literature, and provided valuable experience in analyzing and presenting research data—particularly in pancreatic cancer studies.
Looking ahead, Steve is seeking opportunities in bioinformatics, where he can apply his analytical and computational skills to contribute to advancements in biological research and healthcare.
