Octavia Reising began her academic career at Beloit College in 1990. Her curiosity to
understand the subtle forces that propel civilizations lead her to dual majors in
philosophy and economics. After college from 1996 to 1998, Ms. Reising served as a
Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine teaching English and Economics. In 2000, using the
skills developed from the study of philosophy, she began a 15 year career as a Software
Quality Assurance Engineer testing enterprise business software.
In 2016 Ms. Reising began taking course at City College of San Francisco within their
biotechnology program. This quickly kindled a curiosity to understand the complex
forces and processes within cells. Due to health reasons, Covid-19 and employment at
Medable as a Quality Assurance Validation Specialist, she was unable to complete her
CCSF Biotech Internship till the Spring of 2024.
