Poster: Phenotypic Characterization of 3D Engineered Heart Tissue as a Model of Cardiac Disease
After working as a screen printer for many years, I decided to go back to school to pursue Biology, which ultimately led me to the biotechnology program where I have absolutely loved getting to work hands-on in a wet lab using molecular biology tools and foundational laboratory techniques. Now that I have completed an Associates degree in Biology and Biotechnology at CCSF, I am transferring to UC Berkeley for Molecular Environmental Biology to complete a Bachelors degree. When I am not in class, I am likely out in the woods searching for interesting and unique mushrooms to study further through PCR/DNA sequencing to contribute to fungal molecular identification!
During my internship I gained skills working with 3D engineered heart tissue constructs, using immunofluorescence and western blot to phenotypically characterize the tissues for their potential use as a model for cardiac disease.
