Jane aspires to become a physician and devote herself to the study of the human brain and cognition. To work towards this goal, Jane has received trainings on effective communication skills based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a Certified STAND Peer in the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge (DGC). In addition, Jane also worked as an intern at UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, where she assisted psychologists, therapists, as well as psychiatrists in working with young children who have been diagnosed with or may have autism, developmental disabilities, and behavior disorders.Â
With the recent opportunity with bioscience internship at the UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Jane learned to design and carry out a study independently to examine pre-pulse inhibition of the acoustic startle response (PPI) as a potential biomarker for neuropsychiatric diseases.
