Previously worked as a COVID-19 tester for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from UCLA.
Heather completed the CCSF Bioscience internship at Dr Srivastava's lab at Gladstone Institutes. This internship provided her hands-on training and experience in how to use a light-sheet microscope, perform tissue sectioning via cryostat, compile 3D images using ImageJ, present research data and analysis, use the passive clarity technique (PACT) to delipidate the mouse central nervous system, fixate and hydrogel polymerize specimens, suspend samples in agarose, discuss experimental results in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, and develop systems for organizing the laboratory and its procedures.
Heather continued her studies and completed CCSF's Stem Cell Internship program at Gladstone Institutes studying genetic modifiers of Huntington's disease. She is planning to attend medical school.
