Nidhi Nair
Hi, I am Nidhi. I graduated from the University of Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After graduation, I learned that City College of San Francisco partnered with other universities to offer internship opportunities in biotechnology. I needed hands-on lab experience, so I joined the Bioscience Program at CCSF and completed a five-month internship in the Hebrok Lab at the University of San Francisco. While at the Hebrok lab, we were working to create a hypoxia biosensor to monitor oxygen levels of newly transplanted insulin producing Beta cells in diabetic mouse models.
After my internship ended, I also wanted more hands-on experience in the biotech industry, so I chose to stay at CCSF and complete a CIRM internship at Tenaya Therapeutics. Tenaya is focused on curing heart disease. During my internship at Tenaya, I continued to grow as a researcher by learning new techniques like iPSC differentiation to cardiomyocytes, and Adeno Associated Virus (AAV) creation, and further developed both my molecular biology and stem cell skills.
In the future, I hope to use the experience to contribute further to the development of therapies and cures to disease by working as a researcher in the biotech Industry.
