Aliyah obtained a B.S. in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology at UC Santa Cruz and where she also did undergraduate research in the Smith Lab where she built skills in animal handling. In her internship in Turnbaugh Lab at UCSF she has been investigating the function of microbial proteins important to drug metabolism using Gibson Cloning, Sequence Similarity Networks, spectrometry and Enzyme Assays. She plans to continue in the CCSF Biotechnology program as a Stem Cell Intern and to ultimately gain a Research Associate position.
