My initial work experience revolves around business, and HR work to provide jobs for applicants and to match them with potential employers looking for suitable candidates.
I also have experience with supplying housing contractors with building fixtures ie: tempered glass panels and railings on both the consumer level and for large scale projects like a housing project or new hotel.
I have a degree in business management and I am currently pursuing an AS degree at CCSF in biotechnology
During my time at UCSF I have learned a great deal about the formation of the cortex and some important techniques that I did not get a chance to learn about in college like how to perform an IHC of mouse brain tissue and how to operate and image these slides using a confocal microscope, as well as PCR, qPCR and operating a FACS cell sorter and how to uses these machines most optimally.
Some soft skills that I have accrued recently is to read and learn about the scientific field and to not be afraid of new or confusing things as I have been assured that it will make sense later on and a prime example of this is when I first read a scientific article on calcium entry pathways and did not get a lick of information from it but as I went on with my internship and received information and insight both directly and through diffusion from just being here listening to conversations. I was able to reread those very same articles with fresh eyes and a new level of comprehension that I would not have otherwise thought possible.
My future plan is to continue in academia for a year or two then with the blessing of my PI hopefully branch out into industry where I can combine both my strengths of business and my love for the art of science.
